The blade will shoot out of the handle and is locked with a solid frame lock. The knife will never close when you dont want it to. As an added bonus this pocket knife has also been enhanced with a secondary lock. You prevent the frame lock from unlocking. It is an incredibly safe system.
In terms of steel Ruike has chosen Sandvik 14C28N steel. A stainless type of steel that retains its sharpness well. Also easy to sharpen yourself which is great when you use your knife on a daily basis. A great finish that masks any traces of use.
